The fine makers of videogame pinball at Zen Studios have released their first DLC table for their PS3 pinball game, Zen Pinball with the
release of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo table. This is not a new table, as it was already released as DLC for Zen’s 360 game,
Pinball FX earlier this year.
That is not to say that this is a straight up re-release of the 360 table, as there are a few subtle tweaks to the table and how it in general
feels when compared to playing the 360 version. I own both Zen pinball games, but unfortunately lack the resources to compare the two
side by side to say what is exactly different, and after going and playing the 360 version again it seem that some ramps are slightly
shorter and appear to be positioned a little differently than before now on the PS3 version. Additionally, the table as a whole looks a little
more polished and fleshed out due to the PS3’s superior processor.
If you have yet to play the Street Fighter II table, it is by far one of the most difficult to accumulate points in. Anyone who has played Street
Fighter will get a trip of nostalgia after discovering all the features that have come straight from the game including barrel busting and
car smashing mini-games, and sound bytes from most of the characters shouting their trademark moves. The scoreboard graphics are
also complete with many of the mesmerizing animations we grew up with, and after seeing them numerous times they never get old on
the eyes. The background is also fitting as this table is positioned in an arcade in between a pair of Street Fighter II machines.
One of the few ways to really rack up points on this table is to get into a character battle mini-game by hitting a specific number of
rotations across the ramps of the table in a certain order. The fighting mini-games are fun and almost always result in a huge point
bonus when won, but the criteria to unlock them require a lot of luck, skill and patience. I have yet to encounter a fighting mini-game in
the PS3 version, but in the 360 version of the countless times I have played I have only been in just three fighting mini-games.
Regardless, this table is still a fun time all around, and should please any fan of pinball and Street Fighter alike. This is an easy
recommendation for all Zen Pinball owners, and well worth the $2.49 download on PSN.
