As the temperature begins to drop and the leaves begin to fall, everyone in the gaming community knows that a new Madden game is
all football fans can appreciate.  Of course there are a few issues with some of the new features in the game, but there is no denying
that this could possibly be one of the best football games in gaming history.

When players first start the game, it will be obvious that this is one of the best looking games in the Madden franchise to date.  From the
look of the players on the field to the new presentation elements, players will have to admit that there has never been a football game
that has looked this good before.  It is obvious that EA Sports has put a lot of time and effort to make the experience of playing a
standard game as close to the real thing as possible and it immediately shows.  Gamers will see football players getting yelled at on
the sidelines by their coaches, referees on the field debating calls and pre-game warm-ups on the field while Chris Colinsworth and
Tom Hammond give a bit of insight about the game from the box.  The whole package is very convincing of a real game of football,
making it feel as though the player is in control of a Sunday football game.  Players will also see the constant advertisements for
Snickers and Sprint through the game.

The new presentation elements of the game can be seen in nearly every aspect of the game, all the way down to the menu
configurations which are much different from standard EA Sports games.  Players will see a newly organized hub which houses the
new Extra Point Show.  It is here that players will get a weekly recap of what has happened with their franchise.  Though the
presentation is done well here, the voice work by the NFL Network is pretty bad.

Sadly, not all of the new presentation elements in the game work really well.  Players will be able to see things like objects that flicker on
the sidelines that are unable to load properly, such as warm-up bikes and phones that players on the sideline use.  At the end of each
game, star players are approached by the media for interviews.  It is at these times that gamers will get a chance to see famous football
players in the game without their helmets on, and some of their faces are pretty scary.  So, although a lot of the presentation in the
game works well, EA Sports has something to work on for next year to make the game even better.

Although the presentation of the game is important, the most important aspect of the game still has to be the game play.  Luckily, the
game play in “Madden NFL 10” is great.  Many people may want to simply sit down and watch the game being played because it is so
fluid and realistic.  The speed of the game has been slowed down slightly so hitting holes in the line while running and jukes are just a
little bit easier than before.  This doesn’t mean that the game isn’t difficult, there is still a lot of skill required to be great at this game, but
everything has an excellent amount of give and take this time around.

The key feature of the game that most players spend a majority of their time playing is the Franchise Mode.  This year there have been a
number of notable changes, some players will enjoy these changes while so will be a bit disappointed.  The main omission this year is
the lack of the traditional calendar system.  This means that player’s are unable to schedule practice before a game and improve
certain players.  Instead, they hop between games.  This of course isn’t a huge omission, but some will likely miss the ability to tune
their skills before a big matchup.

This year also features two new modes of play, Online Co-op and Online Franchise. Online Franchise may become the new favorite of
those who have been playing the Madden franchise for a while, allowing players to join up online for a more realistic gaming
experience.  Players can go online with up to 31 friends and start a league and play through seasons like an Offline Franchise Mode.
Players can make trades, draft players and even start the season off with a fantasy draft.  It takes all of the things that are great about
football and combine them into a single package.

“Madden NFL 10” packs a lot of football into a package that is priced at $60.  While some of the modes don’t seem to perform as well
as many players would hope that they would, every football fan will still be able to find something that they will be able to have fun with
for several months.  The graphics have taken a nice sized leap in the right direction from last year’s release and the presentation does
a great job of making players feel like they are in control of a Sunday afternoon football game.  The commentary and voice work in the
game is pretty bad, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience.  Though “Madden NFL 10” doesn’t redefine the series or make
any huge innovations in the game play, it doesn’t stop it from being a great football game.
