The Entertainment Review

One thing that LucasArts has always been able to get right is their music, as well as their adventure game that
feature the amazing music.  Luckily, Telltale Games also knows the importance of a good soundtrack as well.  After
getting a start with the first two Bone episodes and showing the he can easily hold his own in the industry, Jared
Emerson-Johnson offers gamers with a great soundtrack to go along with “Sam & Max: Season One.”  The first game
had three composers working together to create the soundtrack, but this time around Jared was on his own.  Though
it sounds like a daunting task, he is able to pull of “Sam & Max: Season One Soundtrack.”

Jared proves that he is able to do funny music very well.  He is able to make it emotional, fitting any scene that needs
music.  Some of his tracks are very impressive.  There are some that sound as though Danny Elfman composed
them.  It is easy to say that fans of the series will want to pick up this soundtrack and enjoy the variety of musical
styles that are offered in this single soundtrack ranging from the entire first season of the Sam & Max series.

Fans who have played their way through the first season of the series, and possibly played through it a couple of
times may be surprised at how few tracks made if from Bright Side of the Moon.  It is hard to believe that there really
weren’t any cut scenes with music in that episode. Listeners are offers the background music for the Moon, the
Blister of Tranquility, the Inner Sanctum and the amazing World of Max song that ends the first season of the series.
There is also a Bonus Track at the end of the soundtrack that is the end credits music from the fourth episode.  Many
listeners will enjoy the music while it lasts, but will probably be disappointed that there isn’t anything extra being
offered on this disc.  It would have been a lot of fun to maybe get some commentary from Sam and Max throughout
the soundtrack.

The most important question asked when determining whether or not to buy a product is if it is worth the money to
buy.  All of the music on the soundtrack can be found in the game, and players can easily turn them into MP3 files
and makes their own soundtrack, so why waste the money to buy the soundtrack?  First, the extra money used to buy
the soundtrack, which isn’t really very expensive, will help Telltale Games to make better quality games with better
quality music.  Second, it all comes in a really nice package.  Finally, all of the tracks are of a much higher quality
than the files that players can listen to from the game, and a couple of the music files are not the entire song, but
instead a partial selection from the full song and every song on the soundtrack is the full song.

Overall, “Sam & Max: Season One Soundtrack” is a great soundtrack that any fans of the series will enjoy.  Jared did
a great job of creating the music for the cult classic game.  One thing is for sure, anyone that enjoys this soundtrack
will want to be the first in line for the soundtrack from the second season, if everyone is lucky enough to see one in
the near future.
